Canada has postponed changes to its Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) program. Study programs that were set to lose PGWP eligibility on June 25, 2025, will now remain eligible until early 2026, per an IRCC update on 4th July.
Students who applied for study permits between June 25 and July 4 are still eligible under the old rules. The list of eligible programs has now expanded from 920 to 1,107.
The field-of-study requirement mainly affects college diploma graduates. Graduates of bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD programs remain exempt.
PGWPs allow international graduates to work in Canada for up to 3 years.
