Starting September 1, 2025, the financial requirement for a Canadian study permit has been updated. Single applicants must now demonstrate they have $22,895 CAD in proof of funds, an increase of $2,260 CAD.
This figure, also known as the proof of funds requirement, increases with the number of family members accompanying the student to Canada. This means that if you are bringing your family, you will need to show a significantly higher amount to be eligible for a study permit.
This change applies to all new study permit applications submitted on or after September 1, 2025.
